Illinois State Police have launched an investigation into an undercover police operation in the northwest suburbs Tuesday that led to a suspected drug dealer getting shot by an officer.

Carpentersville police confirmed this morning that an officer who opened fire on the suspect struck him as the suspect fled the parking good deal of a neighborhood McDonald&rsquos, wherever the undercover officers had set up the sting with the intent of getting medication from the two male suspects and then arrest them.

Illinois State Police are now investigating the incident, Bosshart explained.
